Mission

The UX/UI Designer is responsible for solving our clients' ecommerce problems  and challenges with smart creative design solutions. They will work closely with Project Managers, Developers, as well as members of the Senior Management team, to achieve a client’s business goals. 

They will apply a visual design approach to everything and will foster a culture of constant optimisation with regards to usability and developing world class user experiences that drive conversions. They will also ensure design maturity and aesthetic appeal for all visual designs, presenting a clear and unified design language. 

Role & Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate discovery and creative workshops with Key Stakeholders: the designer will be involved in collaborative discovery workshops (design, problem definition, ideation and requirements gathering) and will work closely with product owners and developers to ensure a user focused approach from concept through to launch.
  2. Strong and proven experience (at least 5 years) in creating Design Systems with well-defined styles applied to components to provide scalability and to increase the ROI of our design solutions to clients.
  3. Engage in research activities to develop deep empathy with the client’s customers and understand their needs and user challenges. Identify these user needs and in the form of prototyping, test ideas and refine designs based on data and user feedback.
  4. Create and provide attractive designs that are equally usable and aesthetically mature and on brand for our customers. 
  5. Produce and deliver consistent, user focused designs across mobile, tablet and desktop by creating high quality design concepts, wireframes and prototypes that accurately reflect a design language or brand guideline. Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final design as deliverables for the technology team for all platforms (desktop, mobile, tablet, apps)
  6. Lead the conversation and advise customers on the best features and functionality to enhance the user journey and deliver bottom-line growth.
  7. Develop a UX community of practice within GPMD and stay up to date on the latest research methods and UX and UI trends, sharing best practices and informing on these trends.
  8. Document and lead creation of design standards to be followed by existing and new team members.
  9. Stay up to date with the ecommerce platforms and partners we work with and have an awareness of limitations and impacts to overall project costs before presenting design ideas to customers.
  10. Work with project managers and frontend engineers to deliver design deliverables such as prototypes, information architecture (IA) diagrams, workflows and wireframes, as well as final designs for implementation.
  11. Advise the QA team to ensure that products/features meet requirements across various user journey personas.
  12. Solid understanding of the relationship between UX/UI and SEO and accessibility and close collaboration with developers to ensure consistency.
  13. Experience in creating design systems that enhances the UI approach across our client's ecommerce websites. You will primarily be responsible for creating new patterns, guidelines and documentation, supporting our design team to rapidly build scalable, accessible and on-brand experiences.
  14. Demonstrate a strong understanding on the design side of design principles; typography, layout and visual hierarchy, colour theory, as well as responsive web design patterns.

Technical Skills

  • At 5 years of experience in implementing Design Systems in the realms of commerce experiences.
  • Have a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and how design translates to code. A knowledge of Front End frameworks (react,vue, angular etc.) is nice to have.
  • Strong knowledge of Design processes such as Design Thinking, Lean Agile UX and User Centred Design
  • Deep understanding of UX within Digital Experiences
  • Animation, motion design and dynamic interaction in Figma 
  • Wireframing & Prototyping 
  • Have an understanding of relevant ecommerce platforms including how the platforms define themes, page builders, widgets, templating plus other CMS attributes.

Proactive: Fast learner, who demonstrates the ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information.

Creative mindset: Ability to link a multitude of thoughts, ideas, references, and tasks to enhance design deliverables to clients and internal marketing.

Organisation and planning: 

  • Strong project management skills –  can communicate clearly, confidently and persuasively, using sound rationale to reinforce your views and decisions, and influence people at all levels
  • Extremely organised and experienced in working to tight deadlines with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, working with customers and our internal delivery teams.

Problem Solving: Likes to lead and navigate complex processes, find solutions and solve them.

Attention to Detail: You have attention to detail, commitment and desire to complete a consistently high standard of work

Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills; able to articulate and discuss their design decisions with internal stakeholders. Be able to communicate effectively through their designs, user flows, interactions etc. to clients and developers using the most appropriate tool for the job

Salary and Benefits

Starting Salary: £50-60k 

We undertake regular performance reviews and salaries are reviewed annually based on performance.
