The Watch Gallery
About the project:
One of our clients, DM London, completed the purchase of The Watch Gallery (including their website and retail outlet) in January 2012. Once the takeover was agreed, we were tasked with migrating the existing website onto Magento, which was launched on the 12th of January 2012.
This website was introduced as a temporary release, until we had planned, designed and built the new version of the website.
What we did:
After launching the temporary website, we spent the next four months working alongside DM London conduct extensive research and spend a lot of time planning for the new website. We then worked alongside branding agency Elmwood to define and deliver a new brand identity for the highly regarded watch retailer.
The new website is a hybrid build, featuring both Magento and SilverStripe installations for added flexibility for the custom brand landing pages. The website is also fully responsive, helping to facilitate for the large amount of mobile traffic that the website receives.
In addition to the design and build work, we also worked hard on ensuring that the website maintained it's excellent search engine visibility. We also added custom Google Analytics tracking to provide added insight into user trends and added schema and microdata markup to provide more information to users in the search engine results pages.
The end result:
The website we launched allows users to quickly and easily find products, information, video content and hi-res images for a huge selection of luxury watches. ‘The Guide’ is also an excellent editorial resource for the industry and will be regularly updated with compelling and interesting watch articles and reviews.
