The New Zealand Herald has published an article on SilverStripe's success since releasing its content management system as an open source product. The Wellington based company has increased its turnover by 400% in the past year.
Releasing SilverStripe as open source software has given the company a worldwide client base and they are regularly asked to build website for overseas clients and build custom features.
It shows that open source is a good business model to follow, by opening up the code you free developers worldwide to use your software in many different ways, by doing so you gain recognition and this allows you to sell services based around your open source product.
Congratulations to SilverStripe, you can read the full article here.
