Posted by Paul Rogers on 26 October 2011

Wil Reynolds is the Founder and CEO of Seer Interactive, a search marketing agency based in Philadelphia.

I first saw Wil Reynolds speak at the Distilled LinkLove event in March 2011 and I was really excited to see him present again at SearchLove. Wil's presentation was focused on how good content gets you links, providing a number of great tips for getting your content in front of the right people.

Key takeaways from this presentation:

  • Social isn't having the impact on rankings that people want you to believe
  • Google has owned Feedburner for 5 years
  • Google has access to subscription data and isn't using it
  • Setup alerts for broken links
  • yougetsignal.com shows related domains with links going to it, amongst other features
  • Google suggest – Google product suggest has more ecommerce-orientated suggestions
  • Use social space for research
  • Postrank used to display most popular content
  • Include stats or data within emails to link prospects to show you've take time
  • Base infographics on popular content
  • Find those who commented and linked to infographics (link prospects)
  • Google Image Search > Advanced > URL – find those who are using the infographic – then contact these people and ask for links
  • Use existing data for infogaphics
  • Add quora profiles into RSS
  • “Makes peoples lives easier and you will get links”
