The Google Fresher Update

Posted by Paul Rogers on 13 November 2011

On the 3rd of November 2011, Google announced the latest in a series of algorithm updates that have been implemented this year, named “the fresher update”.

Google revealed that the fresher update would influence rankings on around 35% of SERP's, and the intention behind the update is to add further freshness to results to provide a more accurate and useful set of websites to users.

This algorithm update comes after the infamous 'caffeine' implementation (launched last year), which enabled Google to provide fresher results that could also be updated more frequently.

Google announced this update via a post on their blog, in which they detailed the kind of keywords that would be most affected, including hot topics of conversation and frequently recurring events – you can read the post here.
