SilverStripe UK Meetup Review - 3rd March 2011

Posted by Paul Rogers on 07 March 2011

Last Thursday’s SilverStripe meetup was primarily focused on the introduction of the eagerly anticipated SilverStripe version 3.0 release, which is expected later this year.

The event featured an informative presentation from Jamie Neil, who discussed a number of new features and capabilities being introduced with the latest version of SilverStripe. Jamie, who is GPMD’s Technical Director, also answered questions from his audience throughout the presentation. SilverStripe users unable to attend the event could still follow the key points of the presentation by tuning into real-time tweet updates.

The feedback we received from visitors was unanimously positive, with a number of people identifying sections of the presentation that particularly excited them.

Personally, I was most interested in the improved social networking integration features, which will allow users to be more pro-active within the CMS with their preferred accounts.

Meetup events like this one are held every month, giving SilverStripe users of all levels an opportunity to develop their understanding of the open-source system.

Keep an eye on the SilverStripe Meetup website as well as the GPMD and SilverStripe Meetup twitter accounts for updates on the next event, which is likely to be held in April 2011.
