Last night’s SilverStripe UK meetup event was focused on onesuffolk’s bespoke community project, which was built here at GPMD earlier this year.
The onesuffolk website allows local organisations to build their own site and feature it on onesuffolk or their own domain. These websites are built using the SilverStripe CMS and feature a number of themes and other customisation options. Onesuffolk were previously managing over 350 websites using the Microsoft CMS and decided that an open-source platform would provide a better solution.
Speakers Jamie (GPMD) and Adrian (onesuffolk) discussed how SilverStripe provided the perfect solution for the complex build.
Onesuffolk’s Adrian was first up, outlining the main features and capabilities of the system, whilst also explaining their importance and benefits.
Jamie Neil then carried out a presentation on technical aspects of the project, going into detail on functionality with the aid of screenshots from the system. Jamie’s presentation was very well received and prompted a number of good questions from the audience and a round of applause at the end.
I took responsibility for live-tweeting the event – click here to view the stream. Jamie’s presentation slides can also be seen below.
The next SilverStripe meetup event is on the 23rd of June 2011, and will also be held at the fantastic new venue here at Moorgate.
