On Thursday 12 January 2012 a new service will be available for businesses to apply for practically any web address suffix. For example we could see http://shop.pepsi or http://dell.computers as opposed to the traditional top level domain endings (.com .org .net).
Not cheap
Before you get excited about having your own TLD you mght want to know that it could cost £120,000 just to apply for the new suffix. It is potentially one of the biggest updates to the internet that we have seen in 25 years.
You can find out more about this by reading the BBC news piece and the ICCAN website.
